My 18 year old son suffers from multiple types of seizures, he is currently on Depakene & Klonopin. This helps, but does not control his seizure activity. However, my 14 year old daughter with PWS does not exhibit seizure activity, we are one of the lucky ones in this instance, but it is common with Prader-Willi for kiddo's to have seizures. She has scoliosis instead. But in answer to your questions... we researched several years ago a Keto-genic diet to control our sons seizures, it is a protein based diet... In fact, it is the "Atkins" diet today... It uses the proteins as your base fuel, thus sending your body into Ketosis, there has been great success in past years with the effectiveness to control/stop the seizures and to get them off of their anti-convulsent medications. Now in referrence to our daughter who has PWS, she has been on the Atkins diet for the last 6 months. The first 3 months we were religious with the diet, but we've acquired a new family member, healthy, and we have not stayed with the diet so strictly the last few months... But while we were on the diet, our daughter lost around 10 pounds, had much more energy, had no desire to steal or hord food. She normalized significantly, and she stayed awake the entire day, and slept through the nights. There is a Pediatric Neurologist at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto California USA, who supports and utilizes this diet, just call information and they will put you in touch or email me back at ramkadams@hotmail.com and I could get the information for you, if you are at all enterested?
